The pasture Ursprungalm is at the foot of the mountain Steirische Kalkspitze at an altitude of 1.610m. The beautiful place in the Schladminger Tauern is for all ages and an ideal recreational area for hiking. Even mountain bikers will be thrilled with the results of the mtb tour up to the lake Giglachsee. A special event is the hiking tour up to the Giglachseen in June and July when the rhododendron bushes bloom.
The huts on the Ursprungalm has open from late May to mid October. In the two rooms and two camps can spend the night up to 30 people. Here you can choose between breakfast and half board. Guests can eat a wide selection of good home cooking with lots of homemade specialties from the farm such as milk, buttermilk, butter, curd, cheese and styria cheese. The Ursprungalm is accessible by car and bus from Schladming and Pichl. The large parking lot at the end of the toll road is only a few hundred yards from the pasture. The small picturesque plateau was 1988, the filming location for the movie Heidi. There are numerous hiking trails e.g. a 1,3 km long walk who is also suitable for pushchairs or difficult hiking trails up to the mountain – Steirische Kalkspitze. Lot of pleasure from the children on the playground of Ursprungalm, and the petting zoo. For children there is a playground and a small petting zoo. The surrounding rivers invite the kids to build dam and paddling.
The other cabins Giglachseehütte and Ignaz-Mattis Hütte you’ll find on the Preuneggsattel. On the circular hiking tour with the mountains Steirische Kalkspitze and the Lungauer Kalkspitze is the lake Oberhüttensee with the cabin Oberhütte.
