The pasture Hintereggeralm is an ideal hiking destination for the whole family. From Liezen you travel by car to 4.5 km. There is a parking for ca. 10 cars. From there it goes off the first 4.5 km leisurely on a paved road to Hintereggeralm. Until the last kilometer is not paved and a bit steeper (10%). Anyone who has little time can drive with the car to km 9 and walk only the last kilometer to the Hintereggeralm. Parking is available for about 30 cars.
The second variant is from the Lexgraben in Pyhrn to the Hintereggeralm. This is already more a really walk as from the town Liezen. First, follow the forest road and then the path to Hintereggeralm. In the Google Map shown in red. There are no special difficulties. This hike is suitable for children over 5 years.
Also from Weissenbach at Liezen (green line in the Google Map) you can walk to the Hintereggeralm. Again, first on a forest and then a short piece on a hiking trail. Being overcome by Weissenbach at Liezen away but most of altitude and therefore this tour is only suitable for older children or adolescents.
There are 2 huts on the Hintereggeralm, where you are with a real alpine diet can strengthen again right before returning to the valley. On fine days the sun on the Hintereggeralm a real experience.
The finish of this easy hike on the Hintereggeralm has a magnificent view of the mountains Hochtausing, Grimming and the Schladming alps. At the end of the forest road about 1.7 km after the Hintereggeralm you reach a height of 1385 Hm and has a great overview of almost the entire Hintereggeralm. Also during the hike to Hinteregg of Liezen off after about 3 km to reach up a wonderful viewpoint with a magnificent panoramic view of the Enns Valley and in the opposite direction and Selzthal Rottenmann.
Each year about 200 cows spend the summer from June to September on the Hintereggeralm. Here they are 450 hectares of grazing land available. Since about 1000 years ago, this pasture is managed. The road was built from 1956-1964. The Hintereggeralm is not just for the people in Liezen a very popular destination. By car you can nearly go up to Hintereggeralm up and then you has an ideal starting point for many hikes in the Dead Mountains. Or you walk on the mountain and then return to a hut and makes in the warm afternoon sun with the beautiful panorama a cosy end of the day.
