The 4 lakes Salzkammergut Cycling in the austrian provinces of Salzburg and Upper Austria, start in Mondsee - Vöcklabruck - Hausruckviertel - Upper Austria. The first 10 kilometers along the Mondsee are very shallow. When you leave Upper Austria in Scharfling on a slight incline hill about 100 meters to get to St. Gilgen in the state of Salzburg. By the Int. Mondseer 5-Lakes Bike Marathon ( Tour - B) with start and finish in Mondsee, which is almost gone on the same course, one should concentrate on the top of this hill by Schafling. Whoever is caught a good group of cyclists can bike relaxed the next 55 kilometers along the way to Altmünster at Traunsee in Upper Austria. In Altmünster the bicycle tour goes from Traunsee on Großalm to Steinbach am Attersee. From Altmünster again each dependent on its own condition. For a total of around 450 meters altitude, this increase to the Großalm is the most demanding on this beautiful bike ride in the Salzkammergut. After the rapid departure by bike down to Steinbach, one circled on the next 30 km the Attersee in northerly direction on this scenic cycling tour in the Salzkammergut - Austria. On the way to the lake are the villages of: Steinbach am Attersee, Seefeld, Weyregg am Attersee, Schörfling am Attersee, Seewalchen am Attersee, Attersee and Nussdorf am Attersee. In Nussdorf am Attersee you leave the road that leads around the lake and have the second challenging climb with about 250 meters above Oberaschau and Innerschwand on the Mondsee retour to the lake Mondsee. The last few kilometers on the northern shore of Mondsee back to the starting point are rather flat.
The slopes of the Großalm (844m), and between Nußdorf am Attersee and Innerschwand (741m) are not difficult. Since it is a very long bike tour, definitely set beforehand some refreshment stands, take a few granola bars and eat regularly and drink.
Except for a small shortcut between Nussdorf and Innerschwand this tour is identical to the Int. Mondseer 5 Lake Marathon - Tour B. This tour cycling marathon in 2007 quite deserves the highest ranking of all bike marathons in Austria. The Tour A of the Int. Mondseer 5-Lake bike marathon differs from this bike tour. In Strobl, the tour A takes about 1300m high Postalm to Abtenau and over the pass and Gschütt Hallstatt to Bad Goisern. And from Bad Ischl the two tours of the bike marathon lead again on the same track
