The MTB - Tour to Hintereggeralm at Liezen is not only the tour, the closest to my hometown, but it is also very challenging sport and landscaped beautifully. The last few miles are not paved very well. Therefore recommended only for mountain bikes, but there are also some cyclists who drive with road bike to the parking lot about 500m before Hintereggeralm. The route length is 9.5 kilometers to the Hintereggeralm and 11.3 to the highest point. After Hintereggeralm the forest road is gone a bit rough. But is passable without great technical difficulty.

The mountain bike ride on the Hintereggeralm has especially on the first four kilometers of slopes 10 to 20%. Therefore, we have achieved after the first 4.5 kilometers at an altitude of 1050m. Then follows a long stretch with no major climbs. In the last 3 kilometers, you still have to pedal properly. At the finish you have a magnificent view of the Hochtausing, Grimming and the Planai. At the end of forest road approximately 1.7 kilometers to the Hintereggeralm one finally reaches a height of 1385 Hm, and has a great view on the Hintereggeralm. Even during the mountain bike tour on the Hintereggeralm be reached after about 4 kilometers a wonderful vantage point up with a beautiful view of the Enns Valley and in the opposite direction to Selzthal and Rottenmann.

Each year about 200 cows spend the summer from June to September on the Hintereggeralm. The pasture area is 450 hectares. Since about 1000 years, the pasture is managed. The road was built from 1956-1964. The Hintereggeralm is not only for the residents of the city Liezen a very popular attraction. By car you can start up almost to the Hintereggeralm and then has an ideal starting point for many hikes in the Dead Mountains. Or one takes a walk on the mountain a bit and then turns in to a mountain hut and let the day comfortably end in the afternoon sun with the splendid panorama of the Ennstal valley with the mountains Grimming and Hochtausing.

The city Liezen is the capital of the district Liezen. With its approximately 7000 inhabitants is Liezen the economic hub of the region and a very popular shopping town. Recently, there a new movie and a new nightclub for the entertainment and leisure very interesting new offerings.
Liezen is also an important transport hub. The B320 is the main artery of Styria to Salzburg, and after Upper Austria you can go up to Pyhrnpass.
Leisure activities in Liezen: pool, tennis court, climbing gym, 3 gyms, 2 football pitches, bowling, mountain biking, cycling (Liezen situated directly on the Enns bike path and not far from the MTB Alps Tour Styria), cinema, curling, ice skating, sledding, cross country skiing.

The Ennsvalley is in the middle of Austria and was named after the largest river in the valley. The Enns is a 254 kilometers long tributary of the Danube. It rises in the province of Salzburg in the Radstätter Tauern. From Salzburg the Enns flows eastwards through Styria. Between Admont and Hieflau in Upper Styria, the Enns breaks through a Narrow valley - the Gesäuse in the Ennstal Alps before it flows north to Upper Austria.
