The mountain bike tour in Hinterstoder is a moderate and very eventful mountain bike adventure in the region Pyhrn Priel - Upper Austria. The beautiful mountains form a beautiful backdrop. All roads and forest roads are ridden with the exception of the run alongside the rock of the Edtbauernalm into Rottal without major technical requirements.

The MTB - Tour Hinterstoder is an official mountain stretch, which is very well signposted. The beautiful mountain bike ride in Stodertal is also very well known to many mountain bikers, so you meet on the mountain stretches, and breaks on the cottages and pastures again some like-minded people. Driving on the mountain bike route in Hinterstoder is from 15 April to 31 October every 2 hours after sunrise until 1 hour before sunset welcome. The tour begins at the large parking lot for several hundred cars witch is located in the front of the center in Hinterstoder. After about 300m back towards Vorderstoder you turn right onto the Höss panoramic mountain road. The 10 kilometers long, and for cyclists and mountain bikers free toll road leads up to the middle station of the ski lifts in Hinterstoder on Huttererböden. With an average of 8%, the slope is not too demanding, and because of the high quality of road surface at Höss mountain road is the driveway to the Huttererböden for road bikers also possible. After 3 kilometers, and even earlier, there are some short flat sections. The road is mostly in shadow, but also offers some excellent vantage points. 

About a kilometer before the Huttererböden you can bike as a second variant of Edtbauernalm or Youth Hostel and then biking on a dirt road with your mountain bike on Huttererböden. It is also possible to omit the Huttererböden if you renounce the glorious mountain scenery (green line in the Google Map).

After the break by the Huttererböden you drive along a gravel road to Edtbauernalm. Before you go through the forest on a narrow gravel road (see video), you should still have time to stay and look back on the Huttererböden - for me the most beautiful picture of the Huttererböden.

After the Edtbauernalm start the most interesting and exciting part of the mountain bike tour in Hinterstoder, but is not entirely harmless. Steep downhill on the 1m wide rocky single trail (red line in the Google Map). As you can see in the video and the photos, there are no fences, and you could be in an accident crashed almost vertically.

At the start of the downhill is a board where you'll note that you must push off your bike. You have also to lift your bike over a fence too. If you're not so good in the downhill, I recommend you first walk a few meters on foot, or just push your bike the entire 500 meters. When hikers are on the road, you may not go down on a mountain bike, or wait until the track is free. Optimal is, when a biker with a cell phone from the group goes down and gives the ok when the track is free. After the single trail into the "Untere Rottal" you drive on the MTB - Tour Hinterstoder in the direction pasture "Steyrbergerreith". Before the beautiful pasture, with a wonderful view on the mountains on a sunny terrace, there are two small climbs with 200m. From the pasture in Steyrsbergerreith you move comfortably to the pond "Schafferteich".

Also on Schafferteich a short break is very worthwhile. On the remaining kilometers you are going uphill and downhill a few times. Even asphalt and gravel roads switch a few times. In the passages through the farms, please drive careful. After very beautiful but strenuous 31 km you reach the finish of the Mountain - Tour Hinterstoder on the large parking lot.

Biker where the ramp on the Höss - Mountain scenic road is too stressful, or have little time to reach the lift of the Hinterstoder Huttererböden.

The holiday region Pyhrn / Priel consists of the municipalities: Hinterstoder, Vorderstoder, Spital Pyhrn, Windischgarsten, Edlbach, Pasching, Rossleithen, Klaus / Steyrling and St. Pankratz.

Highlights of the holiday region Pyhrn / Priel are the two ski areas Wurzeralm and Hinterstoder, as well as numerous cross-country ski trails. E.g. The cross-country and biathlon center in the Innerrosenau at the foot of Hengstpaß with 26 kilometers cross-country and all facilities for the biathletes. A portion of the system can be supplied with artificial snow and in summer the plant acts as a skate park for inline skates, roller skis, and shooting, with a 2 kilometers long line of fine asphalt. Particularly reliable snow ski trails are found in the ski resorts and Wurzeralm / Höss - Hinterstoder. There are sled pave Edlbach, Pasching, Hinterstoder and Spital Pyhrn make with the toboggan runs in Hinterstoder and Edlbach possible, with floodlights also sledding at night. After a cold day outside, you can thaw out in the panoramic swimming pool with sauna in Spital am Pyhrn properly again pleasant.

In summer the hiking region Pyhrn / Priel in southern Upper Austria, with the Limestone Alps National Park a very popular destination for hikers who appreciate the very scenic tours. The hiking in the recreation area offers many unspoiled forests, adventure trails in the many gorges, imposing mountain peaks with a splendid view of the Alps and many cultivated pastures and huts in which all guests are fed with the best local produce. The paths were provided with a uniform signage system that informs the next hiker path number and direction via elevation and difficulty. In addition to many cycling and mountain bike tours of the golf course in Windischgarsten is very interesting. On Wurbauerkogel in Windischgarsten first you can walk on the fitness trail, view the area of Panorama tower, and then take one of Austria's longest summer toboggan run back to the valley. Not all who want to walk on at Wurbauerkogel Windischgarsten or simply drive more often on the summer toboggan run, there is also a chair lift.

The Dead Mountains lies in the eastern Alps and is one of the northern Alps. The 1130 kilometers ² divided to districts Liezen, Gmunden and Kirchdorf an der Krems on in the two provinces of Styria and Upper Austria. The plateau of the Dead Mountains themselves divided into Priel, Warscheneck, and Schoenberg group. In the largest karst area in Europe, the water drained very quickly and therefore the area of the dead is not a mountain area with lots of vegetation.

Dachstein limestone and dolomite are the two most common types of rock in the Dead Mountains. The Dead mountain is also known for its about 600 caves and wells. The Schoenberg-cave system with 125 kilometers and a depth of 1070m, the longest cave. The highest mountain in the Dead Mountains is the Great Priel with 2.515m. The most famous lakes in the Dead Mountains are: Altausseer Lake Grundlsee, Offensee, Almsee Ödsee, Elmsee, Schwarzensee, Steirersee, Lahngangsee and Wildensee. Besides the well known ski resorts Loser, Tauplitzalm, Hinterstoder and Wurzeralm the Dead Mountains in winter offers a great many ski tours, tobogganing, cross-country trails and lovely, romantic villages in winter dress. In the summer coming, many mountain bikers, cyclists, hikers, mountaineers, climbers, paragliders and recreation seekers to the area of the Dead Mountains. 

The community Hinterstoder belongs to the district of Kirchdorf an der Krems, and has about 1,000 inhabitants. The 150 km ² located in the municipality Hinterstoder Stodertal, a side of the Krems Valley and consists of the districts Vordertambergau, Hinterberg, Mitterstoder and Hinterstoder. At the end of the valley is located in the "Große Priel" 2.514m also the highest mountain in the Dead Mountains.    

Since 1994 great efforts were made to the renovation. Many facades were restored and in the street design was done very much. In 2000 Hinterstoder was awarded the "European Village Renewal Award". 2002 was opened by Hösshalle a modern conference and event center.

Leisure Hinterstoder in winter: ski touring, winder trails, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, paragliding, curling, tobogganing on the illuminated, 1.2 km long toboggan run, cross country skiing (high trail on 1.400m - Huttererböden).
Leisure Hinterstoder in summer: mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, climbing, mountaineering, fishing, swimming, cycling, tennis. Even in the summer months of July, August and September is the mountain railway in Hinterstoder in operation. The Hutterer Böden are also accessible via a 10-kilometer toll road. So you can take comfort from the soil to about 1.400m "Hutterer Böden" some not too strenuous walks or hikes.
