The MTB - Tour in the Dachstein Tauern region of Schladming to Ramsau am Dachstein and Türlwand by the mountain Dachstein, and about Mandling back to Schladming starts at the Planai station in Schladming. This very nice trip on a mountain bike is signed as "Panoramarunde 05" and marked very well. From the parking area at the Planai station you drive a few meters left to the roundabout and then turn right. After crossing the river Enns, follow the paved bike path. After about 3 kilometers, the mountain bike - tour in Schladming turn left over the railway crossing and starts the 8% slope to Birnberg. On Birnberg I've probably missed a sign and then I went the short disdance afte a descent on the road to the point "Lodenwalker". In advance, so watch this section very well, or better still take a detailed look on the mountain bike tour. (Original route would be purple line in the Google Map).

By the point "Lodenwalker" begins a 12%, half kilometer long climb towards to the parking "Silberkarklamm". After this parking, the mountain bike ride turns left on the gravel path and then you drive through the forest with many small climbs and descents towards Ramsau am Dachstein. Following the cycle path along the road there is in Ramsau am Dachstein still a little detour into the village Ramsau - Kulm. From Ramsau am Dachstein to Mandling at kilometer 42, a good vantage point follows another. This MTB - Tour rightly bears the name of Panorama MTB - Tour. 1.5 kilomter Ramsau am Dachstein turn the mountain bike tour in the district Schildlehen to the right and it starts the 5.3 kilometers long climb to "Türlwand" and Dachstein South Wall - average gradient 9%. Along the houses is the single track road still 1 km long paved until the forest road begins. The very good passable, single-lane forest road has only a few steep sections with about 15%. At the base station of the Dachstein cable car you reach with 1.693m the highest point of this panorama - MTB tour in Styria.

In Türlwand you have not only a particularly good view of the mountain "Hohe Dachstein, Dirndl, Hunerkogel, Mitterspitz and Torstein", but also to the west with "Raucheck and Rötelstein". Further away in the south you can see many peaks of the Schladming Tauern. On the descent from the Türlwand the MTB Tour turns at 1.4 kilometers after the Türlwand to the right to "Neustadlalm". You drive through a beautiful forest in the direction "Bachlalm". Before the short climb up to 11% below the Bachlalm we can drive about 300m long across the meadow. Except for a narrow wooden bridge, where only trial specialists go over there you don´t need special technical skills. If you take a breat by the Inn "Bachlalm" you can reach them easily accessible through a somewhat steep dirt road about 15% and 500m (with additional 70 altimeters). The Inn at Bachlalm 1.490m is also an ideal starting point for mountain hikes, such as some to the mountain "Rötelstein". After the Bachlalm follows an approximately 3 kilometers long descent down to the road. To the junction Auwirt you drive 3 kilometers far in the direction Ramsau am Dachstein. In the following, cozy forest with no big gap to reach the most beautiful, green, shiny, small reservoir of the power plant Grahsteg.

Before the city Mandling, on the border of two provinces of Styria and Salzburg, there are still 155 meters to be overcome. This is at the beginning towards Filzmoos not steep, but after the turn has the forest road on a length of 800m 15%. The last 12 kilometers of beautiful mountain scenery tour ends very welcoming and always slightly sloping on the Ennsvalley bike path R7 to the finish in Schladming. A few hundred yards from the base station of Planaibahn cross the most beautiful main square of Schladming. In the pedestrian zone, there are several bars and restaurants with lots of shady places. This opportunity for a cozy cafe at the end of such a beautiful mountain bike ride one should be missed on any account.

To ensure we cyclists and mountain bikers in the Ennsvalley continue

the wonderful opportunity offered to exercise formally in such a beautiful valley of

the Austrian Alps to our beloved sport of mountain biking, it is of extremely great

importance that keep all of us on the following rules and agreements . For, in

addition to tourism, as elsewhere, hunting, forestry and agriculture in

Styria is important too. We must understand and respect the interests of

farmers, forest owners, foresters and hunters.

  • Opening times: 1. May to 10. September from 8-18 Clock
  • Hikers have priority: We drive carefully and select our speed so that we can stop at any time if necessary. Pedestrians to pass more slowly, and we are paying particular attention to children, the speeds and distances can not yet assess how we adults. A friendly welcome and a "thank you" when the walkers pave the way to help the mutual understanding and thus the image of mountain bikers.
  • Respect for nature: We only drive during daylight hours and keep to the specified opening times. In the woods we go no earlier than 3 hours after it has become clear and leave the forest again and 3 hours before dark. We take our garbage with us again and avoid unnecessary noise. We leave nothing but our tire tracks and only take with our impressions. During braking, we sure do not block the wheels.
  • We drive on the roads and paths on which allows mountain biking and cycling specifically, or is not prohibited. We never run wild through the woods. There are many special downhill trails in Austria.
  • Uphill, it is also very important to set up the helmet.
  • We are approaching the grazing in the slow tempo and prevent possible panic reactions. Also, we once again close the pasture gate very carefully. In encounters with wild animals, we adhere to in order to give them the opportunity to remove themselves without panic.
  • The bike tour to prepare well: Take a cell phone, tools, and a small pharmacy with an emergency. Before beginning the bike tour, we look for options again if our bike is technically ok. To us not technically or stamina to overwhelm us, we inform in advance about the bike tour and observe the weather, which is in high alpine terrain, the weather turn very quickly. When a storm was coming, then we are looking for a suitable shelter in time. Before ascending the difficult passages of the doubt and just push the bike.
