The winter hiking trail in Altaussee begins just as the Blaa Alm - Rettenbachalm cross-country skiing at the ski school near the station of the ski arena Loser. The well-groomed path leads the walker first 500m long uphill and downhill to the only significant slope of this beautiful and not heavy winter hike in Altaussee. Then leads the trail slightly sloping on the west side of the pasture by Blaa Alm to the Rettenbachalm crossing. You’ll reach this point after 2km. From there the trail leads back to the starting point. The excellent inn Blaa Alm is on km 2.5.

After lunch on the sunny terrace you’ll walk about 400m further on the approach road to Blaa Alm. The cross the bridge over the very little river -  Augstbach and the round at the Blaa Alm will be closed. On the same path as in the beginning it goes back to the ski arena Loser. Since the path depending on the weather and snow conditions, especially on the slope up and down can be smooth sturdy shoes and clothing is recommended. So you can find on slippery or icy road a little grip in deep snow without that one gets cold feet.

Much easier is the shorter version with start and finish at the parking lot a few hundred meters from the inn Blaa Alm away. In this case, the length of Blaa Alm winter hiking trail have 2 kilometers. And there is no significant climbs included.
